Urinary catheter support is a specialised High Intensity Daily Personal Activity under the NDIS Practice Standards that involves high-risk tasks requiring advanced skills, knowledge and training. This Ausmed Training Module explores the essential understanding needed to safely support NDIS participants who use urinary catheters, including recognising risks, maintaining safe catheter function and following each participant’s individual Health Management Plan. Learn how to provide safe, person-centred and effective support, understand when and how to escalate concerns, and build confidence in monitoring urinary health and responding to problems early to protect participants’ dignity, comfort and wellbeing.
Note: This module is not a substitute for formal training or a competency assessment, which should be delivered by an appropriately qualified health practitioner.
