Who it's for:

Registered nurses who routinely support patients experiencing hair loss, as nurses often serve as the first point of contact for individuals seeking information, reassurance and guidance. A strong foundational understanding of hair thinning and hair loss will help enhance the quality of patient interactions, education and care navigation.

Why it's needed:

Hair loss is common and can significantly affect a person’s wellbeing. About 80% of males experience some degree of hair loss by the age of 80, and approximately 12% of females by age 30 and 40% by age 50, showing signs of hair thinning. Hair loss can contribute to psychological stress similar to that experienced by people with chronic or severe health conditions, highlighting the importance of informed and holistic care from healthcare providers. MBP and FPHL are also known as androgenetic alopecia.

Purpose:

To help build foundational knowledge of MPB and FPHL, including pathophysiology, clinical presentation and psychosocial impact. This knowledge will equip nurses to provide informed and supportive care, helping patients navigate their hair loss journey with understanding and confidence.
