This microcredential aims to develop your respiratory clinical assessment skills and knowledge and apply them to the clinical situation. It is important to assess and interpret respiratory findings with consideration given to the individual’s clinical presentation. You will learn to relate the physiology of oxygen transport to pulse oximetry and recognise the advantages and limitations of information in the clinical setting. An important aspect of respiratory assessment is lung function. This microcredential will also introduce you to diagnostic tests that individuals suffering from respiratory symptoms may undergo or have to perform. It has been written to give you insight into the purpose of the tests and an understanding of the procedures relevant to nursing care and health education. This microcredential is the first in a series of three that corresponds to the unit of study 336 Respiratory Nursing.
