Lecture Overview

One of the most effective tools in responding to challenging behaviour in others is to understand ourself and to have insight into our present state of mind. In this lecture, Jane Stanfield provides an opportunity to understand our own emotions by delving into the concept of energy zones to ensure performance is not to the detriment.

Jane Stanfield

Jane Stanfield is a health service improvement coach. She comes with 30 years’ experience in healthcare, half as a clinician and half in health administration, support and coaching. Having had a brush with burnout herself and several close family members receiving healthcare, her focus is on bringing compassion back to healthcare for all involved. Her current use of neuroscience and mindfulness at work enables healthcare providers to work with their own mind, emotions and behaviour to influence their culture in a way that will energise and motivate them as they manage the safety and reliability of their care and its focus on the patient while caring for themselves. Jane is currently coaching several nurse leaders and runs workshops on leadership, shaping cultures, wellbeing, and communication and patient safety (CAPS). Her most recent professional development personally is in LEAN thinking - reducing waste and improving flow in healthcare…because waste is disrespectful to people! See Educator Profile

This lecture was informative and relevant. However, as the viewer, you are unable to see the slides the speaker refers to during her presentation.

I enjoyed the lecturer who was very warm and engaging. I also found the topic very interesting and helpful. Unfortunately the accompanying slides did not match the presentation. They were clearly relating to another topic, and need to be fixed.

I found this very helpful in understanding emotional intelligence. Its helped give a name to what I go through at times … lack of energy due to be pushed to the limit as well as how it effects empathy, understanding and general care towards others and can create anger towards management if left undealt with. Its given it a name that I can now fall back on.
