Message from the Nursing and Midwifery Health Program Victoria

Current nurses, midwives and student roles in Victoria come with considerable responsibility. In addition, we all have important and essential roles outside of the workplace that need constant time and attention.

During uncertain times, these responsibilities may have the potential to take a greater toll on our emotional health and wellbeing. It is natural and even commonplace at this time to experience a variety of thoughts and feelings, which may be unsettling.

If you or your colleagues are experiencing sustained periods of exhaustion, anxiety or anger, or are finding it overwhelming and difficult to process and make sense of things, now could be the time to contact Nursing and Midwifery Health Program Victoria (NMHPV) to share these feelings with a trusted professional and receive support and guidance on how to best manage this.

NMHPV provides sensitive and compassionate screening, assessment, referrals, individual and group support sessions for those seeking help to manage these health concerns.

NMHPV is a free, confidential and independent support service for Victorian nurses, midwives, and nursing and midwifery students in need of support for sensitive health issues related to mental health impairment, substance abuse or other issues requiring support. NMHPV also provides information on available support services for those affected by domestic and family violence to help them access the support they need, when they need it.

NMHPV has also extended support to Victorian care workers within residential aged care and allied health professionals during the COVID-19 pandemic.
