Lecture Overview

Anxiety is a normal healthy ‘protective’ reaction to a stressor or threat, but as a disorder, can lead to the avoidance of certain situations, intense negative thinking and excessive worrying. In this lecture, Associate Professor and mental health nurse practitioner Tim Wand discusses causes of anxiety and panic; assessment of and initial responses to anxiety; strategies, techniques and health information to support self-management; and stress in healthcare workers.
