Biography

Dr Susan Furness is a senior lecturer, discipline lead, and course coordinator for the Bachelor of Paramedic Practice with Honours program at La Trobe University. Susan has experience as a Registered Nurse and more than 15 years’ experience as a paramedic, having worked as an operational mobile intensive care ambulance paramedic and clinical support officer for Ambulance Victoria before moving into academia eight years ago. She has extensive experience in developing undergraduate paramedic curriculum inclusive of community and extended care paramedicine, advanced communication skills, and advanced clinical practice subjects. Susan’s research interests lie in exploring the ontological aspects of clinical practice.
