What is this article about?

During the holidays, nurses can feel the heat in terms of extra work, long hours, and time away from family and friends. It can be lonely and distressing to not be with loved ones on special occasions like Christmas, and the burden of widespread viral illnesses and the stress of the season don’t help.

Excellent. Nurses need to be encouraged to practice self care in order to be able to perform effectively in their work and not become burned out.

As first stated nurses want to care and help others and forget about ourselves but it’s vital that we take care of our selves for the benefit of everyone.

Good common sense and worth taking heed of these suggestions. Sometimes hard to say No, but good to try and have adequate rest/sleep and have physical exercise and do what's necessary not the superfluous.

The article explains the need of self care and self management for nurses that is an important tool for succeeding all the tasks without any hash. The four strategies include, 1) building body immunity through self care. 2) give some rest to body and mind through multivitamins, getting self blood tests done to rule-out any deficiencies in the body. 3) Practice meditation and yoga. 4) Share your tasks at home and manage your get togethers as team work. 5) Don't hesitate to say no if felt over-burdened at work place or home. 6) Follow the rules of hand sanitisation in this COVID-situation and stay safe.

Sometimes I find it really hard to make time for my learning, but I was blown away by how easy it is with the Ausmed app. I can fit it in during breaks or on the bus to work.
