Crohn’s disease, along with ulcerative colitis, falls under the umbrella of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).

What is this article about?

Crohn’s disease is a chronic and lifelong disorder causing inflammation in the gastrointestinal tract. Although it can involve any part of the GI tract, it commonly affects the small intestine or colon. Crohn’s disease, along with ulcerative colitis, falls under the umbrella of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). The severity of Crohn’s disease is unpredictable, but severe flares can lead to hospitalisation and may even require surgery or a temporary or permanent stoma.
