A Little About Lift Chairs...
Lift chairs are known by many different names but the most common are lift recliners, lift chairs, and chair lifts. Lift chairs are designed to assist people to a standing position from a sitting position. They appear very similar to other upholstered recliners but appearance is where the similarity ends. Lift chairs have a recline and lift mechanism containing a motor, or in some cases two motors, that not only moves the chair up or down but reclines the back and raises the foot rest. When you want to recline or get out of the chair, you simply push a button and the motor/motors move the chair into a standing position so you can simply walk out of the chair. Electric lift chairs are a great benefit to caregivers as they provide the lifting action required to move the patient from a sitting to standing position.
Lift chairs are classified by the positions they are able to achieve: 2 position , 3 position, and infinite positions. One of the major misconceptions about the lift chair position classification is that people believe a 2 position lift chair , for example, can only achieve 2 positions... its normal and reclined positions. This is far from the truth. The 2 position classification means that the chair can recline to approximately a 45 degree angle, but it can also recline to any position up to that point. You aren't locked into only 2 positions. This is the same with a 3 position lift chair , which can recline to a nearly flat position as well as every position in-between. You need to be aware the ottoman and the back operate together, as the back reclines the footrest comes up.If a 3 position lift chair can recline to a nearly flat position, then what can an infinite position lift chair do that a 3 position chair can't do you might ask. The infinite position lift chair can also achieve a nearly flat reclined position, but the back is independent of the foot rest. Infinite position chairs have two motors whereas 2 and 3 position chairs only have one. Likewise, 2 and 3 position chairs only have one button on the control. So, if you recline backwards your foot rest will raise as well. The infinite position chair comes with two buttons on the control; one for the back and one for the foot rest. We offer Pride Lift Chairs, America's #1 selling lift chair line, and Golden Tech Lift Chairs the #2 lift chair manufacturer. Both manufacturers offer quality products at very competitive pricing.
